Workshop Goal
The workshop goal is to equip you to teach others
the CORE COMMUNICATION frameworks,
skills, and processes.
Objectives
By attending this workshop, you will:
• Identify the competencies for successful instruction of the frameworks,
skills, and processes.
• Gain experience using teaching/learning materials and tools.
• Practice skill/process coaching methods with real and simulated
issues.
• Identify ways to support the transfer and extended use of the skills
and processes in daily life.
• Integrate the program with historical and contemporary theories.
• Choose instructional designs for your setting — education,
congregation, community, clinic.
Workshop Learning Methods
The instructor workshop incorporates all Core
Communication learning
modes - presentations, demonstrations, skill practice using skills mats,
assessments, and application/transfer exercises. Special attention is
focused on how to coach and give feedback effectively. As in the Core
Communication course itself, you practice and coach with real issues
of your own choosing (appropriate for the setting). In addition, you
use simulated issues and situations for certain exercises.
Instructor Workshop Materials
Because the instructor workshop combines instruction for both the Core
Communication and the Couple Communication programs, participants use
one or the other of these instructor manuals. Participants also use Couple
Packet materials and the Core Communication workbook.
